We are a small farm in Amelia, Ohio - approximately 25 miles
east of
Cincinnati. We specialize in free range, farm fresh eggs.
We have a variety of breeds that can be found happily milling about on large pastures to their hearts'
content. These hens produce eggs that are extra large and delicious,
great in so many ways!
You can visit our farm anytime and purchase fresh eggs.
Due to FDA regulations, our eggs are not specifically sized but will mostly
fall into the large category.
Our coops will soon be 100% solar powered and off the
electric grid! The system will consist of:
-
Two Suntech 150W (300W total), 24V, 6' X 2.5' Solar Panels mounted
on coop #1 roof
-
BZ MPPT 24V to 12V Charge Controller
-
Xantrex ProWatt 1000W 12VDC to 110VAC Inverter
-
3 DieHard Deep-Cycle 12V, 55AH+ sealed batteries
The coops all have florescent lighting, automatic fan-driven
ventilation, and standard 110V outlets for various uses such as heated water
bowls. We've done a lot of research on renewable energy sources so
if you need information, contact us. Ultimately, we hope to expand the
number of solar panels and add a wind turbine so that our entire barn
complex will get its electrical needs from these sources.
